Technology and Design Department

All pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10, study Technology and Design. Pupils have the opportunity to work with a range of tools, machines and materials including wood, metal and plastic. A number of different control systems are incorporated into project work. Pupils follow the Northern Ireland curriculum and develop their knowledge, skills and understanding in the following areas:

  • communicating
  • designing 
  • using materials and components 
  • incorporating energy and control

At Key Stage 4 pupils can develop their technology and design capability by choosing Technology and Design as a GCSE option. Pupils can specialise in either control or material technology at this level.

Design and Technology is also offered at both AS and A2 levels.

The Technology and Design Department has excellent design and manufacturing facilities and has recently upgraded all its ICT equipment. There are seven staff in the Technology and Design Department.
