History Department

The History Department in De La Salle College is responsible for the delivery of the History programmes of study to all pupils in KS3 and GCSE History courses to KS4 students who have chosen History.   GCSE History has always been an extremely popular choice for De La Salle College pupils and currently there are three Year 11 and four Year 12 classes completing this course.

Such a high number of GCSE students has meant that the subjects offered by the History Department at post 16 level have proven to be extremely popular.  In this respect the department can be seen to make a significant contribution to the academic aims of the college.  The three subjects offered by the Department at Advanced level are History, Politics and Sociology.  Currently there are about 40 students taking, either singly or various forms of combination, their subjects at ‘A’ level.  In fact a student could (and some do!) spend their entire sixth form career within the department.
