Geography Department

The aim of the Geography curriculum at Key Stage 3 is to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of people, places and processes in the world, both locally and beyond; and to provide pupils with the necessary skills to help them conduct investigations in order to record, present, analyse and interpret information from primary and secondary sources.

Through the study of Geography pupils are given opportunities to develop the essential skills of literacy, numeracy, oracy and graphicacy.  As pupils progress through Key Stage 3 they will be provided with a range of educational experiences which include college-based and field studies.

During Geography lessons learning is supported with the aid of a variety of resources including audio-visual and ICT materials.

Geography is a popular subject at Key Stage 4 and at AS/A2 levels.  The Geography department takes great pride in the high standards attained by pupils at GCSE and Advanced levels as our results have been consistently well above the Northern Ireland average.
