The boys at La Salle have been to the forefront throughout the years gaining many individual and team successes in the entire range of school sports. Major notable successes include U14, U16 and U19 Ulster and All-Ireland titles, as well as College titles in Hurling and Gaelic. In soccer our teams have been particularly successful winning on average four cups per year. Recent successes include the prestigious Malcolm Brodie, U16 N Ireland Cup. We continue to have many individual award holders in a variety of sports and presently some of our past pupils hold International honours in soccer, basketball, waterpolo, athletics and kick-boxing.

Sporting activities in the school aim to :

  • offer as wide a range of sport and recreational activities as possible to all pupils;
  • improve pupils' physical fitness and show how exercise contributes to a healthy lifestyle and physical well being;
  • maintain and enhance the school ethos of participation, enjoyment, trust and respect;
  • encourage all pupils, whether talented or less talented to take part in all activities and come together therby stimulating pupil interaction and enhancing pupil motivation;
  • bring together and harness the dedication of pupils, parents and teachers to achieve for pupils physical growth, character formation, interpersonal skills, self discipline and esteem;
  • maintain the commanding position that La Salle enjoys in the school sporting life within our community.
